Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Toronto’s west end at 1413 Dundas St W, Larry’s Back Pocket is a cozy coffee shop that has quickly won the hearts of locals and visitors alike. This compact yet inviting spot is a testament to what true coffee craftsmanship looks like, offering a warm refuge for anyone seeking a carefully brewed cup in an intimate setting.
At Larry’s Back Pocket, quality and detail come first. Their cappuccino latte stands out as a crowd favorite—a silky, richly balanced experience where expert milk frothing meets a perfectly pulled espresso shot. One regular, Taylor Vettese, raved about their oat milk latte, praising not only the coffee but the barista’s evident mastery over beans, milk texture, and coffee artistry. For those who prefer dairy alternatives, options like oat and almond milk ensure that everyone can indulge in a flavorful cup without compromise.
Despite its modest size, Larry’s Back Pocket charms with its cozy atmosphere and thoughtful decor. George C noted the distinct artistic touches dotted throughout the café, from painted garbage bins to bags of house-roasted coffee, all adding a personalized, welcoming feel. It’s a space where you’re not rushed, as Bina Mittal highlighted, making it perfect for a relaxed coffee catch-up or a moment of calm amidst a busy city day.
While the intimate setting means seating is limited — something that Conner Jolly mentioned as a slight drawback — the friendly service and genuine passion from the staff more than compensate for it. Customers consistently praise the warm atmosphere and attentive, down-to-earth baristas who make every visit special.
More than just a coffee stop, Larry’s Back Pocket offers a sensory experience that reflects the best of Toronto’s independent coffee culture. Whether you’re after a quick Americano to go or a slow-sipped cappuccino latte, this little café delivers a rich and inviting taste that will keep you coming back. And if you find yourself lucky enough to grab a seat on a chilly day, it’s a perfect hideaway to savor quality coffee and friendly smiles.
With the reviews so positive we had to check it out but I dont think it was as amazing as the reviews portrayed. Don't get me wrong, it was good and the staff was friendly but the coffee itself was a little airy and wasnt quite as rich as I usually want. That mixed with how tiny the place is means its hard to sit and enjoy which is a bit of a bummber. The staff is super friendly though and it is a cute place. I dont want to be too hard because it wasnt bad, but I also dont think it deserves almost a perfect score.
The last time I had been here it was Tucana coffee. I was staying at my brothers on Dundas and Sheridan and decided to google “latte near me” and this came up and the bird one across the road. Chose this one because it had better reviews and they said it was the best oat milk latte ever. They weren’t lying. So glad I chose this one. Guy knows his coffee beans, his milk foam, his coffee pull… that’s the kind of person I want making my lattes! And they make their own maple syrup which was so good in the latte! He understood I was a coffee snob and gave me a free cappuccino to try. As someone with a bank balance of $15, I appreciated the gesture! Still the latte was my fav. Next time I’m back, I’ll be going there!
A small but cozy spot, so if looking to grab a nice cup of Americano to-go I'd recommend. Oat & almond milk options for my lactose-intolerant brethren. Friendly barista from down-under, great designs painted on the interior and out, from the garbage bins to their own bags of in-house coffee they sell in the shop.
We were super lucky to get the only two inside seats on a cold November day but wow! What a super cute intimate spot for a coffee catch up. Yummy coffee too Don’t feel rushed out and loved the decor
The best place to go in the city. I traveled far just to get the butter tarts.they were amazing. The service was out of this world so happy cafés like this exists Friendly service and extremely worth every penny.
The reviews about this place are spot on; it is an amazing spot to visit. I decided to try the house's blend, and I must admit, I was initially hesitant because I tend to shy away from drinks with a bitter taste. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had a beautifully balanced flavour profile, with a mellow and smooth body that made it incredibly enjoyable. I also want to give a special shoutout to the attendant who served me. She was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable about the coffees, making the experience even more enjoyable. While the space itself is a bit cramped, it has a cozy ambiance that really makes you feel at ease and relaxed. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back and fully enjoy your drink without any distractions. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great experience!
Must be a reason for 5*!! This cheese croissant is PERFECTION! Incredibly crispy outside, pillowy soft inside, and so richly buttery. Absolute heaven! Well paired with iced americano
Small coffee shop with a cute vibe! The service was really sweet here and seems to be a real local gem . There isn’t really any indoor seating so I would recommend for a quick stop in coffee on a day where the weather is nice so you can sit outside and enjoy!
